Masons count rods; suppliers price kilograms. Converting between the two is the quickest way to check a quote or an invoice.
Rod Weights (IS 1786, 12 m rods)
| Diameter | kg per rod | Example at ₹55/kg | Today's prices |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 mm | 4.74 | ₹261 | 8mm price |
| 10 mm | 7.40 | ₹407 | 10mm price |
| 12 mm | 10.66 | ₹586 | 12mm price |

| 20 mm | 29.64 | ₹1,630 | 20mm price |
| 25 mm | 46.20 | ₹2,541 | 25mm price |
| 32 mm | 75.72 | ₹4,165 | 32mm price |
The ₹55/kg column is an illustration of the arithmetic, before GST. Each size page shows the current per-rod figure for every brand.
Checking a Quote
- Note the per-kg price for each size, and whether GST is included.
- Multiply by rod weight for the per-rod price.
- For an order in rods, multiply by the count; for an order in tonnes, divide 1,000 by rod weight for rods per tonne.
Checking a Delivery
Weigh a few rods. A 12 mm rod should be close to 10.66 kg. Rods consistently light are thinner than their label, and you are paying per kg for steel that is not there.
The Short Version
Per-kg price × rod weight = per-rod price. Keep 10.66 kg (12 mm) in your head, confirm GST, and weigh a few rods on delivery.
