East-facing plots are sought after in Hyderabad and often priced higher. Their layout logic follows naturally from the road being on the east side.
Typical East-Facing Layout
| Zone | In an east-facing house | Commonly placed |
|---|---|---|
| North-east | Front-right (facing the house from the road) | Main door portion, pooja, sump, open space |
| South-east | Front-left | Kitchen |
| South-west | Rear-left | Master bedroom, overhead tank |
| North-west | Rear-right | Guest room, septic tank |
| Centre | Middle | Open hall |
Practitioners differ in details; confirm with a Vastu expert for your plot.
The Main Door
Commonly in the north-east portion of the east wall — towards the right as you face the house from the road — and away from the south-east portion. Entrance steps and the sit-out must stay within the front setback.
Sun and Heat in an East-Facing House
| Side | Sun in Hyderabad | Design response |
|---|---|---|
| East (front) | Morning, mild | Large windows welcome; living room fits well |
| West (rear) | Strong afternoon sun, March – June | Thicker AAC walls, smaller openings, shading |
| South | Long exposure in summer | Overhangs over windows |
| North | Little direct sun | Good for windows and ventilation |
Because the master bedroom often sits in the south-west, its west wall faces the hottest sun. An 8 or 9 inch AAC wall there, with shaded windows, makes a real difference to night-time comfort.
Staircase and Parking
A staircase is commonly placed in the south, west or south-west. On a narrow east-facing plot, an external stair along the south side and car parking at the front need to be fitted around the north-east door position — settle all three in the plan.
The Short Version
Door north-east on the front wall, kitchen at the front south-east, master bedroom at the rear south-west, water in the north-east, stair south or west — and protect the rear west wall from the afternoon sun.
