These are three of the most asked-for cement brands in Hyderabad. Comparing them properly means looking past the advertising to three questions: what types each sells, how easy each is to get fresh and in quantity, and what each costs at your order size.
How Do the Three Brands Compare?
| UltraTech | Ramco | Ambuja | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Group | Aditya Birla Group | The Ramco Cements | Adani Group |
| Scale | India's largest cement maker | Major South Indian producer | One of India's largest |
| Ranges sold in Hyderabad | UltraTech Super and others | Supergrade, Supercrete, PPC | Ambuja Plus, OPC, PPC |
| Availability | Very wide | Wide | Wide |
| Price position | Usually highest | Mid to high | Mid to high |
| Price page | UltraTech price | Ramco price | Ambuja price |
What Do the Product Names Mean?
Each brand sells its cement under product names — UltraTech Super, Ramco Supergrade, Ambuja Plus. These are positioning, not types. The type that matters for your work — OPC 43, OPC 53, PPC or a blended cement — and its IS code are printed on the bag. Two products from the same brand can be different types, so check the bag, not the name.
Is the Most Expensive One the Strongest?
No. Under IS 269 and IS 1489, every OPC 53 must reach the same minimum 28-day strength and every PPC must meet the same requirements, whichever company made it. The price difference between these three brands reflects brand positioning, distribution and consistency rather than a higher strength class. A fresh bag of the correct type from any of the three is a sound choice.
Where Does Each Fit Best?
- UltraTech is the safe default when you want a brand every dealer stocks and every mason knows. If you cannot be on site to check every delivery, its ubiquity means you are less likely to receive something unexpected.
- Ramco has a long reputation across South India and offers several distinct products, including blended cements suited to general construction.
- Ambuja sells both OPC and PPC under clear product names and is commonly a little cheaper than UltraTech in Hyderabad.
For most of a house — foundations, masonry, plaster, flooring — a PPC from any of the three is appropriate. For RCC, use the type your engineer specifies.
How Do Prices Compare?
Cement is priced in quantity slabs, so compare at the quantity you will actually buy. Each brand's price page shows its slabs, from a handful of bags up to several hundred, alongside a typical market price. Brands also move relative to each other from week to week, so the cheapest of the three is not always the same one.
How Should You Choose?
- Fix the type from your drawing for each stage.
- Pick a brand you can get consistently for the whole of that stage.
- Check freshness on delivery — packing week under about four weeks.
- Compare delivered prices at your stage quantity, and let suppliers compete for the order.
The Short Version
UltraTech, Ramco and Ambuja are all dependable. UltraTech costs most and is easiest to find; Ramco and Ambuja are often a little cheaper. Choose the type first, then whichever of the three you can get fresh, consistently and at the best delivered price for your stage.
